We are a team of dedicated UK professional photographers, many of whom have been touched by the loss of a baby.
We are all committed to driving forward a newly-founded organisation called ‘Remember My Baby’ (RMB) which was born on Monday 18th August 2014.
When a couple are given the devastating news that their pregnancy is ending in the most unexpected way, the last thing on their mind is professional portraiture. That’s where the RMB organisation comes in.
RMB has a growing network of professional photographers throughout the UK who are willing to use their skills and give up their time to help bereaved families capture a lasting and tangible memory of their baby at no cost to the parents or to the hospital or birth centre.
RMB has been granted UK registered charity status with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and also with the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). As we are an official registered charity, we are able to apply for grant awards, gift-aid and other funding, for the benefit of those UK parents facing a loss of the worst kind. Our goal is for every UK hospital and birth centre to have at least one RMB Photographer attached to it.
If you are a health professional who requires the services of one of our RMB volunteer photographers, please either use the ‘Find A Photographer’ search menu situated down the left hand side of the website. Or alternatively, please click here to be taken directly to the ‘Find A Photographer’ directory.
If after using the ‘Find A Photographer’ directory you are unable to locate a RMB volunteer photographer in your area, please contact [email protected] so that we can assist you further with your enquiry.
As you may appreciate, especially as we are growing, there may not be a photographer available for you, but we will endeavour to cover as best we can. Usually staff will contact the Area Co-ordinator first to find out if a photographer is available, then approach the parents.
RMB remembrance photography session times can vary depending on what photographs the parents would like taken. A session can take as little as 20 minutes to carry out, but will vary depending on who is present, and also on the photographer’s preferred equipment which will vary.
If you would like further information about the Remember My Baby Remembrance photography service please email [email protected]
We very much look forward to hearing from you and working with you and your staff.
Below is some lovely feedback that we have received from health care professionals regarding our service.
“The loss of a baby is one of the most difficult events in life that parents and families will face. Good memories have an integral role in grief and recovery. When a baby dies there is often very little time to make memories therefore memory building becomes a vital component of the short time parents have with their baby. These memories will be enhanced with keepsakes such as hand prints, footprints and photographs.
Professional photography can help to build memories by sensitively capturing beautiful images of a baby and family. We are so pleased to be able to offer this invaluable service to parents.
Our volunteer photographer is readily available, professional and understanding of the needs of families. She will spend time with families to discuss their wishes and sensitively take a large selection of photographs. The photographs have mostly been taken in our bereavement suites in labour ward and the neonatal unit but on also on occasion in the community.
Our photographer has always been able to invest time to capture beautiful black and white images which in some circumstances would have been challenging for parents and staff to accomplish. The family receive the images on a DVD format for them to view, print and share at a time that is right for them.
I have no doubt that this service has helped many parents in their journey through grief by providing positive lasting images which aid comfort and healing. The feedback from parents is always excellent with these photographs being the most treasured of parents’ possessions.
Our photographer has also taken time to attend staff training days to explain her role, answer questions and provide valuable feedback. This helped to raise the profile of the service enormously as staff were able to see the finished results and can now recommend the service to families in their care.”

Words cannot express how amazing this service has been for families whose baby tragically dies. When we phone Cheryl our hospital link, to explain a situation before offering to families, I know I can rely on her. She is professional, understanding and extremely sensitive to families needs. She has never said no and will advise us how long it would take her to get to us. Whatever the situation I present Cheryl with, she accommodates.
As well as photographing babies on NICU after they have died, with either just the parents or 20 relatives present, she has also taken photos a week later after baby returned from post mortem. She was also more than obliging when asked to visit the home of several palliative care babies prior death and captured those amazing last days and hours in their home environment which will be treasured forever. Their very own personal photo shoot – this is something that all new parents dream of doing.
One Mum told me after seeing the photos that whereas she really appreciated the many, many we as nurses took, they didn’t capture the emotion that the amazing photos that Remember My Baby images showed.
Thank you doesn’t seem enough!
