An interview with a Remember My Baby Photographer

One of our volunteer photographers Kerry-Ann Cheshire Whatley from Kidderminster in Worcestershire was interviewed recently by Lisa Ventura. Lisa is the owner and writer of a blog called “Frankie’s Legacy: Love, Loss Grief & Recovery” which focuses on raising awareness of early pregnancy loss, stillbirth and neonatal death.

Frankie’s Legacy was launched in memory of Lisa’s son Frankie who was sadly born sleeping at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital on 29th November 2013.  Frankie had a severe cleft lip/palate, talipes and an extremely rare chromosome disorder (chromosome 15 duplication syndrome). Lisa has also suffered 6 miscarriages.

Lisa quotes “Kerry is very inspirational and has been a huge supporter of Frankie’s Legacy since its inception.”

Kerry-Ann is available to offer a RMB Baby Remembrance Photography service at the Worcester Royal Hospital in Worcester, the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Russell’s Hall Hospital in Dudley.

On the road with RMB

RMB co-founders and volunteers have been busy over the last several days exhibiting at two major events recruiting photographers and raising awareness about RMB’s baby remembrance photography service.

RMB were not only targeting photographers at The Photography Show in Birmingham between 21st March – 24th March, but we were also raising awareness amongst Doulas and Midwives on 24th March at the Doula UK conference in Sutton Coldfield. We look forward to forging links between new recruits and new hospitals in the coming weeks and months.

We would also like to thank The Photography Show and Doula UK for sponsoring RMB to attend their events.  We really appreciate their generosity and support in helping to recruit and raise awareness about RMB.  A huge thank you also to the co-founders and volunteers who have helped fly the flag for RMB this week.

News Flash ~ RMB is now a registered charity in Scotland

The Trustees and co~founders of Remember My Baby are proud to announce that RMB has reached another major milestone in it’s journey.

As from 23rd February 2015, under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, RMB is now a registered charity with the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

One of RMB’s co~founders and Trustee Ruth Trotter lives in Scotland. Her team of RMB volunteers is growing day by day and establishing links with more and more hospitals in the country so as to give as many bereaved parents experiencing a loss of their baby before, during or shortly after birth, the opportunity of receiving a free ‘gift’ of baby remembrance portraiture.

RMB’s formal registered charity entry can be found on the OSCR website by clicking here.

We have come so far over the last six months since RMB was founded. In December 2014, RMB achieved registered charity status with the Charity Commission (England and Wales) and now Scottish charity status, it’s pool of volunteer Photographers and Digital Retouchers is steadily growing, not to mention the generosity and continued support of current and new sponsors and more and more hospitals in the UK are welcoming our service into their health care establishments.

RMB continues to actively recruit skilled Photographers and Digital Retouchers to volunteer for us. So if you are interested in applying to become a RMB volunteer Photographer or Digital Retoucher, please click on the following links below.

Today six months ago……

Six months ago today, a group of determined and passionate women came together with a shared goal to provide the most amazing gift for grieving parents at the most devastating time in their lives: the loss of their baby.

We have had tremendous support from the industry and we are receiving a steady stream of applications to volunteer, as well as regular enquiries from Bereavement Midwives and Managers in NHS Trusts interested in offering our service to the parents in their care.

The Remember My Baby network grows – 9 volunteers have provided over 40 sessions in a dozen hospitals and we have a total of 49 volunteers on the list.

We have achieved so much in just six months! Thank you to all our supporters for your encouragement!
