A seasonal message from Remember My Baby

Our greatest wish for Christmas is that no-one needs us over the festive season, not because we are spending time with our own families, but because Christmas is forever changed after the loss of a baby, and perhaps somewhat more acutely when the loss is around this time, or the due date is around this time.

Many of our volunteers are willing and able to come out to a family in need. Some of our volunteer photographers are visiting family in a different part of the country and have their camera equipment with them in case they can provide a session in that part of the UK.

We hope no one needs us, but we’ll do our best to be there if a call comes in.

RMB photographer interviewed on BBC Today

It was wonderful to have one of our photographers interviewed by BBC today. Well done Paula.

Helping raise awareness of the ‘free’ baby remembrance photography service that Remember My Baby offers is so important so that parents, families, friends and health professionals know that we are here to offer parents experiencing a baby loss before, during or shortly after birth so that parents are given an opportunity to make an informed choice of whether they would like to request a service from RMB or not.

Sadly, parents find out about our service when its too late……. after they have laid their little one(s) to rest.

Please continue to help us raise awareness and share our websiteFacebook page and our Twitter page. It’s just too important not to share.

Thank you.

Please support Simon in the Lakesman Triathlon ~ June 2016

One of our Volunteer Photographers was at a social event recently and got chatting to a friend he’d not seen for a while. It came out in conversation about Remember My Baby.

Our Volunteer Photographers’s friend is called Simon Allchin. Touched by what he heard about RMB and it’s work, Simon has signed up to do the Lakesman Triathlon in June 2016 to raise funds for Remember My Baby.

The event consists of three disciplines (Swim, Bike, Run), to be completed within a 17 hour window, without stopping.  To give you an idea of the task at hand, here are the distances for each discipline:

Swim: 2.4 miles (open water)

Bike: 112 miles

Run: 26.2 miles (marathon)

Please read his story and help support Simon’s efforts by clicking and donating here.

Thank you.

Baby Loss Awareness Week 2015 and Wave of Light event

Light a candleEach year between 9th – 15th October, Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place whereby parents, their families and friends acknowledge and remember their precious babies who have passed away.

Baby Loss Awareness Week also provides a chance for people to talk openly about the subject of baby loss, which sadly in today’s society is still seen as a taboo topic of conversation.

It is also an opportunity to help raise awareness of the emotional impact of pregnancy and baby loss, and the scale of the tragedy, which sadly affects up to one in five families in the UK.

The week ends across the world on 15th October with ‘Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day’ which is marked by a global event called the ‘Wave of Light’.

Here in the UK, ‘Remember My Baby’ would like to invite you to take part in the global ‘Wave of Light’ event. On this day, everyone is invited to take part in the event to remember all the babies that have been lost before, during or after birth.  Please join us on 15th October 2015 by lighting a candle at 7.00pm (in all world time zones) and leave it burning for at least 1 hour. By doing this, a wave of light passes around the world in memory of all the babies gone too soon.

Participating in the ‘Wave of Light’ event can be done anywhere in the world. Either individually or in a group, at home or in a communal space. Wherever you choose to do this, you will be uniting with others across the world in honour of those babies who left us too soon, but who will live on in our hearts forever.

Please feel free to send us photos of your lit candle or candles and also a message or quote as to why you participated in the ‘Wave of Light’ event.

We can’t promise to use all photos and comments sent, but we will try our very best to share as many as we can on our website if possible. Please email your ‘Wave of Light’ candle photos and comments to [email protected]. When emailing your photos of your ‘Wave of Light’ candles please let us know where in the UK or other areas of the world you lit your candle.

Please also feel free to share your ‘Wave of Light’ candle photos on our Facebook page too by clicking here.

Thanking you in advance of your participation.
